FAQ

Who can participate in the Encore program?
Eligible participants are unemployed workers age 50+ who want to work in the local service sector. Individuals must be legally entitled to work in Canada and lack the skills needed to find work in the Sea to Sky Corridor. Preference will be given to individuals that are not currently receiving Employment Insurance (EI) benefits.

How can this program help me find work?
We will work with you to identify an appropriate service-sector work target based on your skills, experience, and interests. Through a blend of group training, one-to-one counselling and online job preparation workshops, we will help you improve your skills and learn how to work successfully in the local service sector. We will connect you with local employers for mentorship opportunities and help you fine-tune your self-marketing and presentation skills so that you can make confident choices about your future workplace and successfully promote yourself to employers.

What kind of training do you provide?
We focus on essential workplace skills including: communication, information management, problem solving, personal management and presentation skills. We also provide service skills training, including basic sales, and technology and computer skills.
