How does Career e-Volutions work?

Career e-Volutions is a fully-facilitated program. Instead of participating in a classroom, you log into Training Innovations’ secure learning platform using a user ID and password. Once online, you access the program content and interact in real time with your e-Facilitator and other program participants using a variety of easy-to-use communication tools. Each week you work through a series of modules, interacting with your e-Facilitator for ongoing support and guidance as you complete the program activities.

What is the difference between this program and other career planning programs?

Career e-Volutions gives you more one-on-one personal attention than a typical classroom-based program. The design of the program allows you to focus on the modules that are most relevant to your situation, and enables you to customize your learning. Your e-Facilitator will provide daily support to ensure you are getting the most out of the program. The other difference between Career e-Volutions and other classroom-based programs is that Career e-Volutions is accessible 24/7 so you can participate as your schedule permits – days, evenings or weekends.

What do you mean when you say that the program is facilitated?

Each session has a dedicated e-Facilitator who is present in the online environment. The e-Facilitator is a professional career practitioner who provides feedback and coaching as you progress through the program. You can expect a high level of interaction with your program facilitator, as each module includes activities which encourage one-on-one dialogue. Interaction takes place primarily online, through reflection exchanges, instant messaging and moderated group discussions. You will also connect with your e-Facilitator by phone during weekly coaching sessions.

How will Career e-Volutions help me with my job search?

Career e-Volutions will help you identify a personally appropriate work target based on your transferable skills, interests and work experience. You will also learn to research the local labour market to find the job opportunities in your chosen field. Finally, we will assist you in developing a competitive resume and cover letter, as well as practicing your interview and presentation skills so that you can effectively promote yourself to an employer.

I’m new to computers. Can I participate in this program?

To participate in Career e-Volutions you only need basic computer skills and access to a computer with an Internet connection. The modules are easy to navigate and we offer ongoing technical support. We encourage you to contact us to assess whether Career e-Volutions is the right program for you.

What if I don’t have a computer?

To fully participate in the program, you will need to make arrangements to have access to a computer with an Internet connection.

Do you charge a fee for this program?

No, Career e-Volutions is sponsored by The Province of British Columbia and is offered at no cost to you.

I’m currently working – can I participate in Career e-Volutions?

That depends! To participate in the program, you must be unemployed or working less than 20 hours per week. If you have a unique work circumstance, please contact us to discuss your participation in the program.
