An opportunity exists to join us as a Career Strategist - a role that combines conducting needs assessments, individual in-person and online career counselling, and group workshop facilitation. We are recruiting a talented professional to join us in the Encore Employment Project. 

The Encore Employment Project is funded by the Province of BC through the Ministry of Advanced Education and Labour Market Development, and the Federal Government through HRSD, and is designed to help older workers develop in-demand skills and put their experience to work in the Sea to Sky Corridor. In this project, we also work with employers to secure employer mentorship opportunities for Encore participants, and offer services to help employers recruit and retain older workers.

This project will run until March 31st, 2011 with strong potential for an additional 1-year of project service delivery - as such this is a term position.

Career Strategist - Encore Employment Project

The primary expectations of this position is to provide direct client service to Encore participants through conducting needs assessments; facilitation of group workshops, and individual in-person and online career counseling.

Success in this role is measured by:

  • Engaging clients in career development services, maintaining client-centred engagement throughout the program and supporting clients to successfully obtain employment - ensuring that project outcomes reflect our expected agreement deliverables 
  • Demonstrating knowledge and use of career counselling, adult learning and online methodologies in your practice
  • Demonstrating alignment with Tii's philosophical and practical approach to career and human development learning
  • Maintaining a collaborative and innovative approach in working with team members to meet and exceed service objectives
  • Ensuring that clients have met their own career development and learning goals through our services
  • Remaining adaptable in your approach by adjusting to changes in service delivery models, the labour market or client trends

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of a bachelor degree in a related field combined with at least one year of work experience in a similar role; preference is for Master's degree in counselling, education or social work combined with related experience
  • Experience conducting needs assessments, developing action plans to address targeted needs and maintaining Participant engagement to reach employment goals
  • Commitment to pursuing and achieving the BC Certified Career Development Practitioner designation 
  • Preferably 1-2 years experience in career practitioning role
  • Demonstrated understanding of human and career development theories, principles of adult learning, and career counselling theories and practice
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills as well as strong technical skills using MS Office
  • Ability to demonstrate self-management skills in managing a complex and flexible work schedule
  • Alignment with and ability to display organizational core values of: accountability, communication, innovation, performance, relationship and spirit.
