An opportunity exists to join us as a Career Strategist with the Career e-Volutions online career development team. In this role, you will engage in a practice of career counselling grounded in sound understanding of counselling, online learning methodologies, and career development theory. You will work with individuals to facilitate their transition into the workforce by: developing respectful, trusting and collaborative relationships; exploring the client's unique context and coming to agreement on the issues that are keeping them from achieving their work goals; and developing personalized plans that will address client's needs and lead to their success in finding personally meaningful employment.

The Career e-Volutions program is funded by the Province of BC through the Ministry of Housing and Social Development. It is an innovative career exploration and job search preparation program for job seekers who are exploring their career options and taking action in their return to work. With its facilitated online nature, the program can be customized and personalized to individual needs and goals, and is flexible to accommodate for client respective schedules and locations.

Career Strategist - Career e-Volutions Program
The primary expectations of this position is to provide direct client service to Career e-Volutions participants through conducting needs assessment and online facilitation of the 4-week career exploration and job search preparation program.

Success in this role is measured by:

  • Engaging clients in our career service intervention, maintaining client-centred engagement throughout the intervention, and supporting clients to successfully obtain meaningful employment or prepare an appropriate application for SDEB within 12 weeks following intervention completion - ensuring that project outcomes reflect our expected agreement deliverables 
  • Demonstrating knowledge and use of career counselling, adult learning, and online learning methodologies in your practice 
  • Demonstrating alignment with Tii's philosophical and practical approach to career and human development learning
  • Ensuring that clients have met their own career development and learning goals through our services
  • Maintaining a collaborative and innovative approach in working with team members to meet and exceed service objectives
  • Remaining adaptable in your approach by adjusting to changes in service delivery models, the labour market or client trends

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of a bachelor degree in a related field combined with at least one year of work experience in a similar role; preference is for Master's degree in counselling, education or social work combined with related experience
  • Commitment to pursuing and achieving the BC Certified Career Development Practitioner designation 
  • Preferably 1-2 years experience in career practitioning role
  • Demonstrated understanding of human and career development theories, principles of adult learning, and career counselling theories and practice
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills as well as strong technical skills using MS Office
  • Alignment with and ability to display organizational core values of: accountability, communication, innovation, performance, relationship and spirit
